What is an LED Fixture and How is it Different? For over a century, we have been changing light bulbs when the old ones burn out. Most of the bulbs available today are now LED bulbs. The difference between a light fixture that takes LED bulbs and a true 'LED Fixture' is that the LED Fixture has a permanently installed LED light source. There is literally no light bulb to change. Changing light bulbs has been an accepted requirement, but now you can experience being light bulb free.

What is Color Temperature and Why is it Important? LED Fixtures and bulbs are sophisticated, allowing for reliable production of specific color temperature ranges. Color temperature refers to a Kelvin scale measurement for a light source. In North America, we are used to color temperatures similar to incandescent bulbs, around 2700-3000K, known as Warm White.

For residential outdoor lighting, Warm White (2700-3000K) is most popular, providing a friendly light unlike the cooler commercial lighting. Indoors, Warm White (3000K) is common, with exceptions like brighter Bright White (4000K) in hallways, and Bright White (4000K) or Daylight White (5000K) in bathrooms/dressing rooms to provide a crisper white light.

Color Rending Index (CRI) describes how well an LED Fixture represents color compared to daylight. Outdoor fixtures typically only need 80 CRI, but indoor fixtures should aim for 80 or even 90 CRI for the best color representation, especially in bathrooms and dressing rooms.
